According to Major General AE Abubakar, who is the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army and the Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), the army and other security agencies’ existing synergy has significantly reduced security risks throughout the nation, particularly in the fight against criminal activity in some volatile Plateau State areas.

According to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Ishaku Takwa, Acting Deputy Director, 3 Division, Army Public Relations, Abubakar made this statement when the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State command, CP Okoro Julius Alawar, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Headquarters, 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

The Chief Of Defence Staff wanted all security services to work together to share intelligence in order to eliminate criminals and give Nigerians a tranquil environment, the statement claimed.

He remarked, “There is a need for all security agencies to band together and combat criminality.”

In addition to praising the police contingent’s contributions to Operation SAFE HAVEN, he stressed the importance of continuing to include all relevant parties in grassroots advocacy efforts to put an end to violence and restore peace to the State.

He further told the police commissioner that he was determined to improve the already-existing partnership between the military and the police in Plateau State.

In a previous statement, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Okoro Julius Alawar, explained that the purpose of the courtesy visit was for him to become familiar with other security agencies and to seek for enhanced cooperation, which he said was essential to reducing crime and ensuring stability.
