Plateau governor, Mutfwang, addresses allegations of $5m bribe involving justices and his election nullification
Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, dissociated himself on Friday from a rumour circulating in some circles regarding the purported $5 million bribe paid by certain justices to void his election victory in March 2023.
In a tweet on his verified X handle (previously Twitter), Mutfwang—who was elected on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform—described the claim as untrue and slanderous.

The speaker expressed his severe condemnation of the false and slanderous charges made by some persons, who claimed that judges had accepted a $5 million bribe in exchange for nullifying his victory.

According to PlatinumPost, the Court of Appeal in Abuja is scheduled to make a ruling on an appeal filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nentanwe Yilwatda. The petition challenges the Plateau State electoral Tribunal’s ruling, which affirmed Mutfwang’s victory.
Recall that the APC greatly benefited from the Court of Appeal’s recent dismissals of some People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MPs on the Plateau, raising concerns in certain quarters.
