Plateau: 9 family members are killed by gunmen
After gunmen raided the Maikatako Community in the Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, no less than nine members of one family were slain.
On Wednesday in Jos, DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state’s Police Command, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Alabo claimed that on Tuesday night, the assailants broke into the neighbourhood and began firing randomly
The PPRO stated that soldiers from the command had been sent to the village to maintain calm and pledged to provide further information about the event.
We are in control of the situation, but the specifics of the attack are still unclear, he added. “Our soldiers are presently pursuing the attackers.”
However, Mr Mahanan Job, a village resident, informed NAN that thus far, during the community’s search and rescue efforts, 18 corpses had been discovered.
Even with the troops and police around, Job claims that there is a lot of tension in the neighbourhood.
