All Nigerian students and residents of Sudan were encouraged by the NIDCOM director to exercise caution and maintain calm.

The Federal Government has revealed that preparations are already being made to ensure the evacuation of Nigerians who are currently living in Sudan as that country’s situation worsens.

Nigerian students’ desperate appeal to be evacuated from the unstable Sudan was what prompted this action.

Conflict is raging in the nation between army head Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who is in charge of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), two generals who took control in a coup in 2021.

With 185 dead, the UN chief calls for an end to the fighting in Sudan.

In spite of the truce, thousands of people leave the capital of Sudan.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), talks are being held to determine the best way to handle the evacuation process in response to the Nigerian Students’ request.

The Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, claims she has taken notice with worry of the condition of Nigerian students in Sudan due to the intensification of hostilities, according to a statement released on Thursday by NIDCOM spokesperson Gabriel Odu.

The NIDCOM Boss said that the Commission had received a letter from the Sudanese branch of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NAN) requesting possible student evacuation, particularly for those in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.

She promised that the Nigerian mission in Sudan and other pertinent authorities are engaging with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), which is in charge of emergency evacuations.

All Nigerian students and residents of Sudan were asked to exercise caution and security awareness by Ms. Dabiri-Erewa.
