Ghana’s President-Elect John Mahama visits Nigerian President Tinubu, strengthening ties between the two West African nations.

Ghana’s president-elect, John Mahama, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Mahama’s visit occurred just weeks following his victory in Ghana’s presidential election, marking his return to leadership of the West African nation eight years after previously holding office.

Olusegun Dada, Tinubu’s Special Assistant for Social Media, stated that the newly-elected president of Ghana visited his Nigerian counterpart on Monday.

Dada posted on his X handle, along with photos of the two leaders: “Yesterday, Ghana’s President-Elect John Dramani Mahama visited President Tinubu at his residence in the Presidential Villa.”

However, he did not provide additional details about the meeting. Approximately ten days earlier, Tinubu had sent a congratulatory message to Mahama after his election victory.

Tinubu praised the people of Ghana for their “successful elections” and encouraged everyone in West Africa to embrace this commendable democratic example. He emphasized prioritizing national unity within our countries to ensure political stability across the region, highlighting that such peaceful transitions reflect the democratic culture not only in West Africa but throughout the entire African continent.
