Philip Shaibu returns to APC, alleging attempts to destroy him by political adversaries, marking a significant turn in Edo politics.
“I have rejoined the All Progressives Congress, APC,” announced Philip Shaibu, who has been reinstated as Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Due to attempts to destroy him in his pursuit of the governorship position, Shaibu expressed that he chose to rejoin the APC.
During a confrontation with Governor Godwin Obaseki, he stated that it was by the grace of God that he survived.
Over the weekend, he addressed attendees at the Afemai World Congress held in Detroit, Michigan, within United States of America.
He gave an assurance of his backing for the gubernatorial candidate from APC in the state, Monday Okpebholo.
The deputy governor who was reinstated stated that Okpebholo is a superior candidate for governor compared to Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has been endorsed by Obaseki.
“I want you to take an interest in the upcoming elections,” he stated. “As you can tell, I have switched back from PDP to APC.”
I switched to the PDP because of Governor Obaseki, and I returned to the APC due to his influence.
I aspired to be the governor, but was threatened with destruction if I persisted. Despite their efforts, by God’s grace I am still here today.
Despite being impeached, I had confidence that I would participate in this program as the deputy governor. With my reinstatement and recognition of intimidation and harassment tactics used against me during impeachment proceedings, it is now crucial to explore solutions towards improving our country’s future.
