Unlike some bloggers’ stories about lung cancer, accidents, and suicide, the death of Nigerian comedian and On-Air personality Oluwatobi Owomoyela, better known as Peteru, in the early hours of Thursday, December 22, has been confirmed to be the result of complications from colon cancer.
According to a source close to the family, the adored comedian, 35, who buried his father just six weeks ago, was scheduled to remarry in the first few months of 2023.
Due to his distinctive impersonation, Peteru became well-known in the comedy world, and up until his passing, he was one of the fastest-rising comics to establish a name for himself in the south-west of Nigeria. He also collaborated with some of the top Nigerian performers. In Ibadan, Oyo State, he was also an MC, a brand influencer, and an on-air personality.
His mother, siblings, and son all still live.
Since the news of his passing spread on social media, tributes to the late comic have poured in from both celebrities and fans.
In a statement about Peteru’s death, the Owomoyela family said that Peteru’s family wanted time to cry and mourn.
