Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, has stated that he is uncertain about the actions of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the South-East and so cannot denounce them.

This was said by Obi on Monday during a presidential town hall series called “The Candidates.”

The former governor of Anambra State asserted that poor leadership is to blame for the unrest in some regions of Nigeria.

Obi stated that his government would use discussion to address the problem if elected president the following year.

“Protecting Nigerians’ lives and property is the first of our seven-point agenda.
This is accomplished by ensuring that there is equality, justice, and compliance with the law.

“There is a great deal of unrest throughout the nation. It results from poor leadership. Agitation is normal and healthy. You converse and debate with everyone.

“I am unsure of who is doing what, thus I am unable to denounce ESN. Only after a procedure in which it has been shown that someone has committed an offence can you sentence them, he added.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a pro-Biafra separatist movement, has a paramilitary unit called ESN.
