Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 general election, recently expressed his unwavering beliefs on commitment and loyalty in marriage. He stated that for him, divorce would not be an option, even when confronted with infidelity.

Obi disclosed this information on The Honest Bunch podcast, which is hosted by the well-known comedian and actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu Wazobia.

Obi spoke about his marriage to Margaret Brownson, emphasizing the principles that guide their relationship.

The former governor of Anambra State stressed the significance of unwavering support and loyalty, stating that he would stand by his wife’s side in any circumstance, even if faced with challenges stemming from infidelity.

He affirmed, “Regardless of what my wife does today, I won’t divorce her. I can’t bring myself to leave her—never. Even if she were to shoot me, as long as I’m alive, she’ll always be my wife.”

Regardless of what she does, I won’t marry anyone else. She’s my wife. She can do whatever she pleases because nothing she does will offend me. Even if it’s an extramarital affair, that’s her business, not mine. People wouldn’t say we both had affairs; instead, they’d remark that Peter Obi is a good man who married someone with a wandering eye— and that’s all there is to it!

“You can’t measure my worth by comparing me to the life of my wife or children. We lead different lifestyles. Even when I travel with my wife, it’s noticeable—sometimes we’re on the same flight but in separate classes.”
