Peter Obi Reacts to Kenneth Okonkwo Leaving Labour Party
Despite recent criticisms from prominent Labour Party chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo, Presidential candidate Peter Obi maintains his trust in him for the 2023 election.
Obi’s aptitude to construct a winning party and secure mandates despite gaining votes was doubted by Okonkwo, who openly declared his lack of faith in him.
Okonkwo expressed his dissatisfaction with the present condition of the LP, which he thinks lacks readiness for electoral triumph. As a result, he is contemplating embarking on another path in his political expedition.
Obi advised against branding Okonkwo as a spy for the opposing party, stressing the significance of productive discussions rather than attacking someone personally. He declared:
Holding divergent opinions shouldn’t automatically classify someone as an adversary. It is paramount to have constructive conversations rather than using derogatory language or making harmful remarks.
I came across an open letter written by my dear brother Kenneth Okonkwo yesterday, in which he shared his divergent opinions on the conflicts within our party.
Today, I observed multiple reactions to his letter. Henceforth, I unequivocally affirm that Barrister Okonkwo still holds a special place in my heart as both a beloved sibling and loyal associate.

Obi emphasized the significance of having diverse viewpoints in a team, affirming that maintaining respectful communication is imperative for development and proficient leadership.
It’s normal for groups, societies, or movements to have differences and contrasting views. It is crucial that we conduct ourselves with dignity and respect even when we don’t see eye-to-eye.
In my opinion as a leader, it isn’t beneficial to work alongside people who always concur with me since listening and learning are essential in leadership.
I desire diverse opinions; if they’re superior advice than mine will follow them otherwise attempt to persuade the individuals holding those beliefs differently from my own viewpoint.
Previously, the Labour Party had remarked that Okonkwo’s criticism of Obi was regrettable and done for publicity. The party stated in a release that they were not taken aback by Okonkwo’s decision to resign.
The complexity of political alliances and the significance of upholding unity despite differences are highlighted by Peter Obi’s avowal to remain loyal to Kenneth Okonkwo.
Obi’s reminder to engage constructively and respect one another highlights the importance of unified leadership and transparent communication in political movements.
