Peter Obi Focused on Merger to End Poverty, Not Power – LP Tells Atiku and Others
The former spokesperson for the Obi-Datti presidential campaign committee, Yunusa Tanko, stated that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, would only consent to a merger that would enable Nigeria to escape poverty.
According to Tanko, the former governor of Anambra has no interest in a merger that would give rise to political power.
Recall that Obi had meetings with Sule Lamido, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
After the discussion with the two, Atiku had lately called for the possibility of a merger.
Tanko responded to the rumours by saying that Obi would only associate with those who shared his ideals.

“He is interested in a merger that will enable Nigerians to escape poverty and achieve a comfortable standard of healthcare for their citizens.
ensuring that Nigerians have access to clean drinking water and that the energy supply issue is being resolved.
He is consequently very interested in a merger that is motivated by a programme and an ideology. However, if it’s just to get power, he has no interest.
