Additionally, Major General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), informed that all eight potential corps members who were abducted on August 17th, 2023 along Funtua-Gusau Road in Zamfara State have been rescued.

On Saturday, the ex-governor of Anambra State posted on his X account that in addition to aiding victims, he advocates for a more preemptive approach from both government and law enforcement when safeguarding against future criminal activities. He also urges for those responsible for such malevolent acts to be punished accordingly.

The post is stating that the rescue of 20 Medical Students who were Kidnapped in Benue State and the release of eight National Youth Corps Members by their captors brings relief and joy.

On the 17th of August, while en route from Uyo in Akwa State to Sokoto State, NYSC members were abducted in Zamfara. I extend my gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force, DSS personnel and military forces that worked together alongside everyone who assisted with their rescue efforts towards freeing our youths from captivity.

I applaud their brave endeavors and selfless sacrifices. In addition to retrieving abducted individuals, I urge the government and security personnel to take a more proactive approach in averting such heinous acts from happening again while bringing those accountable for these atrocities to justice.

Unless we completely declare war on insecurity within our country, these unpleasant stories will persist in defining our national existence.

Only two days have passed since the news broke that bandits had brutally murdered 13 farmers in Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State. On this same day, there was another heinous attack on Moriki Community in Zamfara State by bandits who abducted approximately ten individuals.

Numerous criminal activities occur unnoticed throughout various regions of the country. It’s imperative that we put an end to this insecurity, bring those responsible for it in Nigeria to justice, and move our nation forward.

It is imperative for the government and security personnel to assume responsibility for safeguarding our citizens’ lives and possessions against these malevolent individuals. As I have reiterated, creating a new Nigeria that guarantees greater safety is feasible.
