The alleged interview, according to the former governor of Anambra State, never happened.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in the February 25, 2023 election, claims he declined a media interview that suggested he would seek the presidency in 2027.

The former governor of Anambra State bemoaned “an emerging pattern where fake media reports” in a tweet on Saturday.

The alleged interview, according to Obi, never happened.

“The other is about how I feel about potential Federal Government nominees. Both reports are false, he wrote on Twitter.

Obi promised to keep discussing pressing governmental issues with reputable news and media outlets.

“I will not waver from the initial goal of establishing a new Nigeria, which we believe is doable, nor will the Obidient Movement.

The LP presidential candidate added, “Our emphasis has never been on political positions or personal aggrandisement, but on placing the country on the correct footing and deepening our democracy by helping to elevate and empower the disadvantaged in our society.

After Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi finished third in the election.

Obi and Atiku are both in court contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ruling that Tinubu won the election.
