Political activist Deji Adeyanju warned on Monday that the Peter Obi nomination for president of the Labour Party, LP, might not be invalidated by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Adeyanju had previously stated that the tribunal might not treat Vice President Kashim Shettima same due to a double nomination.
He said in a tweet that the tribunal might render President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second nomination ineligible.
Adeyanju claims that he will be “extremely surprised” if the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal does not disqualify Peter Obi’s nomination by the LP in accordance with the EA’s membership record regulations.
“Shettima’s double nomination is also sufficient to void Tinubu’s candidature.”
A lawsuit seeking to disqualify Tinubu and Shettima for an alleged double nomination was dismissed by the Supreme Court in May.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Shettima both received double nominations for the positions of vice president and senator from Borno Central Senatorial District, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) argued in its petition to the top court.
