Peter Mbah of the PDP has been proclaimed the victor of the Enugu governor election

The gubernatorial election in Enugu State has been declared won by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate Barr. Peter Mbah.

Following many days of contention over the Nkanu East Local Government Area results, Mbah made his announcement.

The Labour Party’s Barr. Chijioke Edeoga finished second in the hotly contested election.

Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, the returning officer, claims that collation was taken over by INEC’s national headquarters in Abuja after those in Enugu were unable to come to an agreement.

According to him, 30, 350 votes for the PDP were reduced to 16, 956 after a review of the voting procedure.

According to Iwe, the LP now has 157,552 votes, while the PDP received 160,895 votes to win.

With 17, 983 votes, Frank Nweke of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, or APGA, finished third.

The PDP candidate, Mbah, was then proclaimed to be the next governor of Enugu State.
