Vice-President Kashim Shettima stated that Nigerians’ confidence in President Bola Tinubu and his government is demonstrated by the judgement rendered by the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Shettima made the claim at a press conference shortly after the five-judge court panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani issued its ruling upholding Tinubu’s election as president.

“My principal, President Bola Tinubu, is eternally grateful to the people of Nigeria and to the party’s leadership, who have been present since 9 am.

Members of the National Assembly, ministers, our enthusiastic chairman and national secretary of the party, and all of them have been here.

Although my principle will make a formal statement, we felt forced to speak with you after spending close to 14 to 15 hours in this chamber. “One cannot sufficiently describe our debt of appreciation to the Nigerian people.

Every person has dignity, which we should respect and value. The adventure is just getting started, so we want to thank you and make an appeal for unity among Nigerians, he stated.

“What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us, let us come together as a people and face our common challenges,” the vice president proclaimed.

As I have long stated, Africa is facing the trajectory of global expansion, and Nigeria, the largest black nation on earth, will either make or break that trajectory.

Even though it was a long day, Shettima stated it was a nice day.

“Nigeria is having a terrific day today. The Nigerian judicial system has established itself as the protector of fairness and justice against the sirens of deceit.

“In this age of information, discernment is our greatest defence, and unity is our strongest hold. It is a battle between the will of the people and the forces of misinformation and disinformation, but democracy has finally triumphed like the bird phoenix, which rises from the ashes resolute and unhindered.

“Remember, in this fight for the country’s existence, in this majestic symphony of democracy, your voice, your vote is the note that cannot be muted. But even at this time of victory, we are not going to be manipulated; we will work for the unity of our country.

As you are all aware, democracy is a process that requires a commitment from all of us in order to be the guardians of the will of the people.

In response to the question of whether he would “retire political tourists to Dubai” as promised during his campaign, the vice president responded that elections were over and that governance had taken their place.

“I hold Atiku Abubakar in the highest regard as an elder statesman. Anyone who is familiar with the social and cultural interactions between Fulanis and Kanuris in the North will understand that I am free to hurl insults at him, and he will take them.

We won’t send him to Dubai or Morocco for retirement; instead, I’ll send him to Fombina, where I’ll buy him goats, broilers, and layers so he can spend his days raising them, but in jest.

“On a more serious note, he is an elder statesman, and the country needs him because experience cannot be purchased.

He said, “We will draw on his breadth of knowledge and exposure to propel the country to a greater level.
