Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a prominent Niger Delta figure, claimed that his group showed up to support President Bola Tinubu because the petitions against him were baseless and unsubstantiated.

On Wednesday, Dokubo talked with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) outside the Appeal Court Headquarters in Abuja, which serves as the location of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC).

The former soldier expressed optimism that their case would be decided in their favour when he gathered with his group, the Ijaw Youths for BAT, alongside the National APC Supporters Centre and the Northern Youths Network for Asiwaju, along Shehu Shagari Way directly across from the Head of Service building.

“We are present in court to demonstrate our presence. We are confident that the judge will rule in our favour. There is no substance to the case; it is completely frivolous. But if you don’t show up, they’ll show up and act out. That’s why we came, too. “You have seen the vast majority; you cannot find them anywhere,” he continued, gesturing to members of his group.

President Tinubu has supported me at my most trying moment, and now is the time for me to show my appreciation.

We know our case, and we know that it will go in our favour, Dokubo stated when asked what he would do if the verdict did not support his candidate.

Regardless matter how the judgement pendulum swings, he stated, “all Nigerians should come together and work for the good of the country.”
