David Adeleke, better known as Davido, a Nigerian artist, has talked about his difficulties in persuading listeners to accept his albums.
After 12 years on stage, he expressed his joy at the excellent response to his most recent album, “Timeless.”
In a recent Afrobeats Podcast episode, hosted by Adesope Olajide, Davido made a statement.
I’m glad people accepted “Timeless,” he remarked. My records have never been trusted by them. I’ve never had people accept my album, but they did with this one, so it’s a strange sensation for me. After murdering things for 12 years, this is a brand-new emotion for me.
“This is the most love I’ve ever experienced. The DMW head said, “It’s ridiculous buddy.
Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless,” has reportedly been shattering streaming records since its debut, according to Obasanjonews24.
First African album to debut at No. 1 on the US iTunes list, the 17-track album shattered the record.
In addition, it had the largest album first-day stream in Audiomack history and the highest album charting by an African artist on US Apple Music (it peaked at Number 2).
Critics labelled all three of Davido’s studio albums—his 2012 debut, “Omo Baba Olowo,” his 2019 follow-up, “A Good Time,” and his 2020 third studio album, “A Better Time”—as “failures.”
Especially on the 2019 album “A Good Time,” which includes “If” and “Fall,” which were released two years earlier, the singer was accused of padding his album sales figures by featuring “old songs.”
