The Pentagon has stated that there is no credible evidence to support claims that aliens have visited Earth, despite widespread speculation and UFO sightings. Investigations into unidentified aerial phenomena continue.
Pentagon spokesperson Major General Patrick Ryder stated that there is no evidence of extraterrestrial presence on Earth.
He was replying to a journalist’s question suggesting that, “considering the news cycle,” any announcement regarding aliens or extraterrestrial life might easily be overlooked.
“The truth is out there… however, we have no evidence to suggest that extraterrestrial life has visited our planet,” the Pentagon press secretary responded.
Ryder’s statement aligned with a previous report from the Pentagon, which refuted allegations of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life or suggestions that the US government had plotted to conceal such information from the public.
In March, an unclassified report from the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) indicated that there was no evidence of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), which is the military term for UFOs. Established in 2022, AARO aims to identify and address reports concerning UAPs.
Spanning the period from 1945 to October 2023, this report was the most thorough document ever released by the Pentagon on the topic. It marked yet another occasion where claims concerning extraterrestrial spacecraft were denied.
The investigators did not find any evidence indicating that a US government investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has validated any UAP sighting as being extraterrestrial technology.

The report indicated that assertions regarding covert government initiatives purportedly reverse-engineering extraterrestrial technology were founded on misinformation. It also stated that sightings of flying objects or alien crafts are due to the misidentification of ordinary items.
Claims from the Pentagon that aliens have never visited Earth have been called into question by independent investigators and conspiracy theorists. These groups seem convinced that the government is concealing evidence of extraterrestrial life.
In July, three military veterans appeared before Congress to testify about UFOs. Among them was David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer, who asserted that the US government has been running a covert reverse-engineering program for decades using recovered vessels. He also mentioned that non-human “biologics” had been retrieved from suspected crash sites in the United States.
When questioned about Grusch’s assertions roughly a month later, a Pentagon spokesperson stated that the Department of Defense “has not found any verifiable evidence to support claims suggesting that programs involving the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have either existed in the past or exist currently.”
In September, the department unveiled a website dedicated to declassified information on flying objects. This site also enables current and former US government employees, service members, and contractors to “submit reports through a private and secure channel.”
