David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi, expressed his gratitude towards his successor, Francis Nwifuru, for continuing to honor him even after leaving office.

He made these remarks during a conversation with journalists following the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree upon him by Ebonyi State University in Abakaliki.

Umahi, who now serves as the Minister of Works, highlighted the rarity of a smooth transition of power where the predecessor is still respected and appreciated by the successor.

He attributed this harmonious relationship to divine intervention and commended Governor Nwifuru for upholding peace in the state.
