On Friday, the opposition party punished some of its members, including the senator from Enugu East, for allegedly doing things that hurt the party.
Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State, has protested the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to suspend him, alleging that his right to a fair hearing was violated.
The Enugu East senator was accused of engaging in anti-party actions, and as one of numerous people sanctioned on Friday, the PDP’s National Working Committee suspended Nnamani (NWC).
Nnamani responded to the disciplinary action taken against him by posting on Twitter early on Saturday morning to say that the decision and notification of his suspension came as a “rude shock” and “big surprise” to him.
The ex-governor continued by stating that he was never made aware of any petitions or complaints made against him or the reasons why the PDP National Working Committee decided to expel him from the party.
He added, “I was not also invited to any meeting, action, or hearing of the party’s National Working Committee where my alleged offense(s) was or was discussed.”
“As a result, I was not given the opportunity to speak up for myself at any meeting where the proposal and decision to suspend me from the party were discussed.”

Accordingly, and particularly during disciplinary processes, “my right to a fair hearing was violated against the plain provisions of the party’s Constitution.” More significant is the FRN’s superior constitution.
While “we continue our campaign to a hopefully successful finish,” he urged his supporters to practise restraint and observe the law.
It’s possible that the suspension has something to do with the fact that he publicly endorsed Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential nominee.
