Former Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Odefa Obasi Odefa has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Odefa left the PDP for the APC, as did more than 500 of his supporters from the Onicha East Constituency.

He made this revelation while visiting the state’s Government House in Abakaliki with Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru.

Speaking about his defection, Odefa stated that he had “studied the governor’s good intentions as captured in his manifesto” and made the decision to “pitch tent with the APC in order to rally round the governor in his efforts to transform the state.”

In response, Nwifuru declared that the APC was ready to welcome everyone with good intentions into the group.

In the APC, Nwifuru promised the defectors a level playing field.

In order to advance the state, he also urged them to work together.
