PDP releases official guidelines for Benue LG elections
Benue PDP releases comprehensive guidelines for the local government elections. Find out how these guidelines will shape the electoral process.
Guidelines have been released by the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for selecting candidates to contend in the forthcoming Local Government election.
After the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC disclosed the schedule for the elections set to take place on October 5th, this development emerged.
The Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Oryina Orvaa, signed and issued the guidelines on Monday.
As per Orvaa, the aspirant screening is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 27th of the year 2024 and will be conducted in the following manner:

At 10:00 am, the screening for councillorship hopefuls from Zone A will take place at London Galaxy Hotel in Adikpo, as announced by him.
“At 10:00 am, the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi will be where Orvaa stated that screening for Zone B’s counterparts will begin,” said Orvaa.
He further stated that the candidates from Zone C will undergo screening at Leach Hotel in Otukpo starting exactly at 10:00 am.
According to Hon Orvaa, on Tuesday the 27th of August in 2024, aspiring chairmen who have acquired and delivered their expression of interest and nomination forms will undergo a screening process at the party headquarters located in Makurdi.
In addition, he pointed out that the primaries for aspiring Councillors would take place on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 at their respective council ward headquarters. On the same day, those running for Chairmanship positions will hold their own primaries at each local government area headquarters.
On Thursday, August 28th, 2024, at the party headquarters in Makurdi, Hon Orvaa declared that all appeals arising from screening and conduct of Councillorship and Chairmanship primaries will be heard.
He urged candidates to make certain that they hand in their full application form together with their tax clearance certificates, party membership and voters cards, photocopied nomination and expression of interest forms, proof of payment for processing fees as well as academic qualifications which are required during the screening process.
