PDP NWC Members Reaffirm Support for Gov. Fubara’s Leadership in Rivers State

The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) members paid a visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, reaffirming their confidence in his leadership and commitment to Rivers State’s progress.

A number of members from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have voiced their support for the recent court decision that invalidated the party’s congresses in Rivers State.

The NWC members expressed their stance during a visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday night. They also had a private meeting with the Governor behind closed doors.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, was part of the delegation.

After the meeting, National Treasurer Ahmed Mohammed confirmed that Governor Fubara remains the party leader in Rivers State.

He explained that their visit was part of an initiative to reposition the party and plan for a return in the 2027 elections.

Mohammed expressed their dedication to promoting unity, stability, and effective restructuring within the State.

He also conveyed the NWC’s support for Ude Okoye, who was recently reinstated as the party’s National Secretary by the Court of Appeal.

Mohammed encouraged party stakeholders and governors to support Okoye for the advancement of the party.

The visit occurs shortly after PDP Youth leaders from around the nation convened with Governor Fubara to address internal party conflicts and solidify his leadership within the state.

The court decision that invalidated the Ward, Local, and State congresses—secured by allies of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory—has stirred unrest within the party.

The congresses that took place last year were disrupted by contradictory court rulings; a State High Court issued an order to stop the proceedings, while a Federal High Court permitted them to continue.

After the nullification, a temporary committee was formed to manage the leadership of the party in Rivers State.
