PDP Needs Probe Panel, Not Reconciliation Committee, Says Clark
Political leader Edwin Clark argues that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) requires a probe panel to address internal issues rather than a reconciliation committee, emphasizing the need for accountability and thorough investigation.
The creation of a reconciliation committee by the leadership of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been criticized by Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark.
According to Clark, a probe committee should be established by the PDP to investigate party members who have been participating in activities that run counter to its interests.
Yesterday in Abuja, an open letter was written by the former National Commissioner to Ambassador Umar Illiya Damagum, who is currently serving as the party’s Acting National Chairman.
Damagum was encouraged to clear himself of the accusations of misconduct.
The letter urges the Acting National Chairman of PDP to establish a probe panel/committee to investigate members such as Nyesom Wike and impose sanctions if they are found guilty according to party regulations. The writer opposes setting up a Reconciliation Committee, led by Maj.-Gen. (Olagunsoye) Oyinlola, as he believes that the G-5 group has disbanded with only one member remaining in the party’s leadership position while others have left completely or are uncertain about their affiliations.
As the current National Chairman of your party, it is important to encourage you to eliminate any wrongdoing. You previously brought your party’s NWC (National Working Committee) to court regarding the 27 members of Rivers State House of Assembly who defected; despite their public declaration and reception by APC, you argued that they were still PDP members due to improper exit procedures.
Mr. Acting National Chairman, your stance contradicts Section 109’s position. As the presiding head of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), you sued this body which is contradictory to your position as its leader. Despite all these contradictions and complications, you continue to reap benefits from occupying such a high-ranking office that grants power and perks alike. It appears evident that in conjunction with PDP dissenters, you are working towards overthrowing this political group for rival organization All Progressives Congress (APC).
Give Nigerians the chance to make their party choice via elections. Refrain from cooperating with Nyesom Wike in wrecking the party. Eventually, there will be accountability for all actions taken by humanity.
Hence, it is worth mentioning once more that a probe committee should be established to scrutinize the evident and blatant disloyal actions of Nyesom Wike towards the party. Furthermore, he also committed an insult against Senator Adolphus Wabara – who serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) for our esteemed political group which symbolizes its essence. Therefore, due to his offense against our party’s integrity. it would only be fitting if he were expelled from membership.”
Additionally, I urge all sensible and accountable PDP leaders and supporters to take decisive action in removing Wike from the party. No one is greater than the party, therefore his dismissal should be considered.
