PDP Must Act Now, Has Tolerated Wike for Too Long – Ex-National Auditor, Nnaj

Former PDP National Auditor, Ray Nnaji, urges the party to take immediate action against Wike, claiming the party has tolerated his actions for far too long. Find out more about Nnaji’s strong stance on the ongoing PDP crisis.

The ex-National Auditor of the PDP has proposed that the party allowed Nyesom Wike, who serves as FCT Minister, to remain in their ranks for an extended period.

Nnaji expressed his perspective on the party’s crisis during an interview with OBASANJONEWS, in which he exclusively stated his opinion.

This arises in the face of Wike’s challenge to any PDP governor or leader to openly accuse him of being a mole.

During his appearance on the Politics Today programme of Channels Television, the Minister issued a challenge.

Previously, he had dared governors who were elected under the PDP’s platform and threatened that he would ignite their states with fire.

Wike maintained that he had no need to apologize to anyone and confidently stated that there would be no catastrophic consequences.

The former auditor expressed regret over the state of affairs in the party and asserted that no loyal PDP member would approve of its current situation. He further stated his disbelief at Wike’s supposed affiliation with both APC and PDP simultaneously.

According to Nnaji, the crisis within PDP was facilitated by their delay in filling the vacancy left by former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu. He believed that this time wasted allowed for more conflict to arise.

He stated that no upright member of the PDP would approve of the ongoing events within the party.

It’s unlikely that Wike would be affiliated with both APC and PDP simultaneously. Their focus is on securing the soul of Rivers State for 2027 ambitions.

It is evident that Wike leveraged his influence as a former governor to aid the rise of APC into power, leading to him being granted a ministerial position in return.

Wike’s intention was to transfer the organization he owned at that time to the APC. This justifies why the Rivers state executives of the APC were disbanded, causing its members to seek legal action.

The problem in the state began when Wike and 25 State House of Assembly members who defected discovered that others were not following them.

The crucial truth is that the acting Chairman did not fulfill his responsibilities appropriately. The Party as a whole, rather than solely blaming the acting Chairman, should be held accountable because of the explicit provisions in the constitution.

In the event of a vacancy, what is to be done? Although the constitution prescribed solutions for such scenarios, they were not executed successfully.

When Iyorchia Ayu vacated his position, Damagun stepped in from the North Central region to fill the void.

Replacing Iyorchia Ayu was a crucial step that the party should not have delayed. Rather than leaving his position vacant, the party could have appointed someone else from the same zone to prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.

It seems to me that dealing with the party is not as challenging now compared to Amodu Sheriff’s case, which went all the way to the Supreme Court prior to the 2019 election.

Despite not taking action early enough, I am confident that the party will overcome this.

Nnaji commented on the establishment of a reconciliation committee, questioning who it would reconcile with. Specifically, he asked if its purpose was to reconcile with Wike or the Governor.

It appears that the government is unwilling to cooperate with Wike’s request for the structure. By granting him this, it would make the governor subservient to Wike.

The governor is expected to lead the party in the state and take control, so that’s not what he desires.

Observing the current events, Wike is of the opinion that he has managed to carry out his own parallel congress and establish a framework. But it goes without saying that even though the governor already has his team in place, who will ultimately be selected by national authorities remains uncertain.

I learned that Wike was invited to the disciplinary committee, but I am unaware of the outcome. However, it took too long for them to extend the invitation and allow him up until this point.

Though he didn’t play a role in establishing the party, he has derived the most benefit from PDP. His effort to ruin it, considering his significant gain from its existence will have negative implications for him down the line.

“Even if he destroys PDP, there is no guarantee that APC will be a comfortable place for him to stay.”

From my perspective, his priorities lie solely in his personal interests at the moment and he may not be considering alternative viewpoints.

By 2027, the PDP must ensure that it has organized its affairs to determine if it is capable of leading the nation towards liberation.
