The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is poised to take disciplinary action against Nyesom Wike following accusations of engaging in anti-party activities that threaten party unity.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is said to be contemplating disciplinary action against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, due to accusations of engaging in activities contrary to party interests.
Umar Sani, who served as the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former Vice President Namadi Sambo, disclosed that Chief Tom Ikimi will head the party’s disciplinary committee tasked with examining Wike’s actions for alleged violations of party regulations.
Sani stressed that Wike, despite his significant position, is not superior to the party. He also mentioned that the newly established disciplinary committee is ready to tackle the reported violations.
“The problem has been overly simplified, with some portraying it as a conflict between Abubakar Atiku and Nyesom Wike,” remarked Sani on Arise TV’s Morning Show. “However, the true catalyst is the Governors’ Forum. Previously inactive, this group has now come to life and is playing an active role in addressing the crisis.”

Although a court order might restrict the removal of officials, Sani pointed out that it does not prevent the party from suspending members or enforcing disciplinary actions.
In September, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, announced on Channels Television’s program “Sunrise Daily” that Wike has been called to address accusations of engaging in anti-party activities.
Abdullahi mentioned that Wike received a letter instructing him to appear before the PDP disciplinary committee led by Tom Ikimi.
He mentioned that three weeks prior, they established two committees: one for reconciliation and another for disciplinary matters. Nyesom Wike is among those scheduled to appear before the disciplinary committee, which is led by senior statesman Chief Tom Ikimi.
The disciplinary committee is set to investigate matters related to anti-party activities. We have received numerous petitions concerning actions that undermine the party or efforts to sabotage it during the primaries, which has led us to this point. Complaints against Wike and other members of the party have been compiled and forwarded to the committee for review.
Some party members believe that Wike should not have remained in the PDP up to this point, and they have expressed their concerns to the leadership.
