PDP governors are calling on security agencies to pay close attention to the recent threats made by Governor Wike. This development underscores growing tensions and the need for heightened vigilance.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have advised security agencies to take note of the “menaces” made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), regarding political unrest in any state governed by individuals who interfere with PDP’s affairs in Rivers State.
On Saturday in Port Harcourt, Wike expressed his sympathy for governors who plan to take over a structure and then give it back to someone else. He stated that he will set their states on fire if they attempt such actions.
According to Emmanuel Agbo, the Director General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, no one should consider themselves exempt from legal accountability and he implores security forces to take heed of the minister’s statements.
Agbo calls on the leaders of national security agencies to be aware of Wike’s attempts to incite violence among subnational regions, emphasizing that everyone must abide by the law.
Wike’s comments and ultimatums to “ignite” unrest in PDP-controlled states are reckless, immature, and completely impermissible. They obstruct endeavors to establish and sustain peace, unity, partnership, and reverence among the party’s executives and supporters.
The fact that this is being expressed by an ex-governor and former member of this esteemed forum is truly regrettable.

The Forum upholds an enduring philosophy of “touch one, touch all,” demonstrating support for each other as individuals and in unity, regardless of the situation.
Wike relished a tradition during his time as governor. Therefore, we affirm that our stance on the PDP’s situation in Rivers State, which was agreed upon at our 2024 conferences held in Enugu and Taraba States respectively, cannot be reviewed by anyone regardless of their position or authority.
Our allegiance lies firmly with the National Working Committee (NWC) of our esteemed political party, PDP. We are determined to collaborate closely and guarantee that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State receives all his rightful entitlements as a governor elected under our party’s banner, be it at state or national levels.
The commitment of the governors to these values is evident in their recent actions, particularly endorsing Governor Fubara. It’s imperative that all members of the party collaborate towards shared objectives instead of pursuing individual grudges, and this includes Wike.
The Forum asserts that the responsibility lies with the National Working Committee of the PDP to utilize official provisions and informal channels to resolve conflict within its Rivers State division.
