PDP Expels South-East National Vice Chairperson for Anti-Party Activities
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expels its South-East National Vice Chairperson over allegations of anti-party activities, signaling internal disciplinary measures.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has formally expelled Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairperson for the South-East region. This decision comes amid allegations of engaging in activities contrary to party interests.
Odefa was suspended by the ward executives on September 11, 2024—a decision that was later confirmed by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki. In a ruling under case number FHC/AI/CS/182/2024, dated November 29, 2024, the court validated his suspension as legitimate.
On Wednesday, Onyeka Ovuta, the Acting Chairperson of the PDP in Oguduokwor, issued a statement announcing Odefa’s expulsion. Ovuta clarified that this decision was based on recommendations from the party’s disciplinary committee, which had substantiated the allegations against Odefa.
The party stated that due to Mr. Odefa’s expulsion, he “is no longer a member of the party.”
In response, Mr. Odefa dismissed the expulsion with a laugh, describing those who announced it as “frustrated charlatans.”
He argued that the expulsion was invalid because “it did not occur in the ward but rather in Abuja.” He also mentioned that those who announced actions against him were not party executives from his ward.
“Let them return home and announce it. Or is our ward now situated in Abuja?”
