The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe has announced its decision to abstain from participating in the local government elections scheduled for May 25, 2024, in the state.
Mohammed Sulayman, the Party’s State Organizing Secretary, made this declaration during a press briefing in Damaturu yesterday.
He emphasized that the choice to not partake in the upcoming election was made after thorough consultations.

Sulayman also criticized the State Independent Electoral Commission for its lack of transparency and fairness in conducting local government council elections in Yobe, stating that the current situation is unlikely to change.
Additionally, he accused the commission of intentionally withholding information from political parties regarding the election activities and imposing high fees for forms to deter other parties from participating.
The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission had previously announced the date for the local government Councils’ election as May 25, 2024.
