The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called for Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, to quit. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State claims that he has received threats against his life as a result.
For requesting that Ayu step down as the PDP National Chairman, Wike said that they intimidated him.
He said this yesterday at the opening of the Akpabu-Itu-Umudiogha route in the state’s Emohua Local Government Area.
Wike clarified that he is not pushing for Atiku to give up his ticket.
“When I see certain individuals racing about and shouting nonsense, they forget history easily,” said Wike.
Today, we are not advocating that the presidential candidate give up the nomination.
We aren’t being egotistical.
“Since you are now a presidential contender, we are merely requesting that our group assume the chairmanship because they have threatened to kill me.
Can it be done?
He said that certain state residents were chasing around Atiku in the hopes of becoming ministers, calling them rent-seekers.
You haven’t slaughtered an animal and you are telling ladies, don’t eat it, when you see some rent-seekers from here walking around claiming they would give me minister of finance and governor of the Central Bank.
To determine whether ladies will eat an animal, kill it first.
I’m not interested in that type of guarantee.
Give my folks the topic we are discussing right now.
Give us the chairperson so we can get things along.
He responded, “They come and tell you tales.
Wike and the G-5 group have taken issue with the party’s zoning plan’s leadership.
A certain zone cannot produce a PDP presidential candidate and National Chairman, according to the Wike-led faction.
