In response to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and G-5 governors’ protest, the Rivers State government has accused someone of plotting to extort the state’s governor, Nyesom Wike.
Chris Finebone, the state’s commissioner for information and communication, said this on Thursday at a news conference in Port Harcourt.
Finebone claimed that a “faceless organisation” was responsible for the smear campaign against the governor in a statement made by Wike’s Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri.
According to Finebone, the anonymous group felt betrayed by Wike for leading the G-5 governors to call for “fairness, equity, and justice” in the PDP.
“This is proof of the scheme to blackmail governor Wike,” he declared.
The document is headed, “Proposal with hashtag, to halt Wike rascality program,” and it is available here.
“We urged them to take off their disguise and identify themselves as the governor so that the administration could respond to them effectively.
“They aren’t even allowed to sign the document to support this.
It is crucial that we alert them. It is crucial that we also alert Nigerians to this scam. We anticipate seeing more of them. However, I can guarantee that the governor and the G-5 would rise to the challenge as long as they continue to launch defamation campaigns of this nature.
