PDP Crisis: Court Rejects Anyanwu’s Attempt to Block INEC from Removing Him

Justice Ekwo instructed Anyanwu to notify INEC and the other defendants named in his new lawsuit, requiring them to appear in court so that he can hear their perspectives.
Senator Anyanwu submitted an ex-parte application to the Federal High Court, requesting that the judge prevent INEC or its agents from accepting or acting on any communications and written submissions originating from the PDP unless they are signed by him.
In the application presented by his lawyer, Anyanwu requested Justice Ekwo to prohibit Ambassador Umar Damagun from sending any correspondence, documents, or written submissions to INEC unless they bore his signature.
In a concise decision, Justice Ekwo stated that after examining Anyanwu’s assertions supporting his lawsuit, he was persuaded that there was an urgent matter at hand.
The judge, however, stated that he would not approve the plaintiff’s request through an ex-parte application and preferred to first hear from the defendants before making any ruling.
He consequently instructed Anyanwu to notify INEC and Damagun about the new lawsuit, allowing them the opportunity to appear in court and present their perspectives.
Justice Ekwo instructed the plaintiff to deliver the court documents to both defendants and scheduled February 24 as the date for hearing the case.
