The PDP’s BoT members met with the party’s National Assembly caucus behind closed doors to deal with their internal conflicts amidst leadership struggles.
Against the backdrop of mounting apprehensions surrounding the condition of their party leading up to the 2023 elections, a meeting was held at Legacy House in Abuja – headquarters of PDP.
Internal conflicts have engulfed the PDP as numerous party stakeholders express their dissatisfaction with Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum’s inability to implement substantial reforms.
Tensions heightened when Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory openly criticized Sim Fubara and PDP Governors Forum regarding their leadership structure.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the PDP BoT headed by Chairman Adolphus Nwabara and Secretary Senator Ahmed Makarfi had a confidential meeting with Wike in Abuja.

The BoT convened with Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi State Governor and Chairperson of PDP Governors Forum on the subsequent day to tackle persisting issues within their party.
The BoT is holding the present gathering to assess the viewpoints of the PDP National Assembly caucus regarding their party’s concerns.
Present at the event are prominent individuals including Lere Oyewumi, Senate Deputy Minority Leader; Ali Isa JC, House of Representatives Minority Whip; and Pastor Ojema Ojotu.
It is uncertain what will result from these discussions, but the BoT are anticipated to suggest recommendations with the intention of guiding the party back on track.
