Ladi Adebutu, a key PDP figure, reportedly detained by the DSS in Ogun State. The party decries the development, sparking political concerns.

Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Ogun State’s 2023 governorship election, has been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS), according to his party.

Kayode Adebayo, the Publicity Secretary for the PDP in Ogun State, confirmed Adebutu’s arrest and detention in a statement he issued on Monday in Abeokuta.

He stated that Adebutu was reportedly summoned for questioning, allegedly related to disruptions during the local government elections on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Adebayo announced that members of our esteemed party, the Peoples Democratic Party, should be informed that the leader has indeed been detained by the DSS on charges that are not yet known.

Nevertheless, our principal has urged everyone to remain calm and assured all party members, supporters, and well-wishers that this challenging period will eventually pass; it is one of the costs we bear for maintaining our democracy.

As of 10 PM on Monday, November 18th, 2024, numerous attempts have been made to secure his bail either through personal recognition or by a surety. However, none have been successful so far. His lawyers are aware and will address the situation tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

With this release, we aim to inform our people and the general public about his whereabouts and encourage everyone to remain calm and peaceful until the matter is resolved.
