PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Kogi not Accepted by Group
The Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Youth Frontier, under the leadership of President Umar Francis, has publicly opposed the selection of Mona Anyebe as the consensus chairmanship candidate for the party in the state, as stated in a release issued in Lokoja on a Saturday.
The group emphasized that the chairman should be chosen from the pool of interested candidates who have undergone the screening process conducted by the committee, highlighting the importance of following due procedure.
Francis pointed out that Anyebe’s suspension from his Ogugu Ward in Olamaboro Local Government due to alleged anti-party activities, as supported by a petition signed by all ward executives, was not appropriately addressed by the party’s leadership.

Furthermore, the rejection of the elders committee report during the delegate meeting in Lokoja on April 29, 2024, raised concerns about the suitability of Anyebe for the role, especially in comparison to other potential candidates like Capt. Joe Agada and Hon. Tony Amego.
The group urged party leaders to ensure a fair and transparent election process that allows party delegates to freely select their next chairman in Kogi State, emphasizing the need for a level playing field.
