The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintains that its candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, is not just poised for victory but also not deterred ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Imo State.

It claimed that this was the case in spite of a malicious fake film that Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reported to have created and distributed against him.

The party called for Uzodinma’s disqualification by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The APC candidate, Uzodinma, allegedly sponsored a phoney video against the Party’s nominee in an attempt to deceive the Imo people. The Party called this behaviour cruel and disgraceful.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, made this announcement in a statement on Friday.

The PDP claimed that the fabricated video proved Uzodinma’s intense dread of the PDP candidate’s popularity and that he was forced to use devious tactics at the last minute in an unsuccessful attempt to push him out.

The statement went on to say that Uzodinma had proven he wasn’t prepared to run in a transparent, free, peaceful, and fair election.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says that despite the malicious fake video that Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly produced and circulated against him, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, its candidate for Imo State’s governorship election on Saturday, November 11, 2023, is not deterred and is poised for victory.

The APC candidate, Governor Hope Uzodinma, allegedly sponsored a phoney video against the PDP candidate in an attempt to deceive the people of Imo State, a move that the PDP calls cruel and despicable.

The phoney video, which is typical of the ‘419’ mentality, only serves to demonstrate Governor Uzodinma’s extreme dread of Senator Anyanwu’s popularity as the PDP candidate. As a result, he was forced to use devious tactics at the last minute in an unsuccessful attempt to remove Senator Anyanwu from the race.

The PDP reiterates that Senator Anyanwu, our nominee, is still very much in the running for governor. The aforementioned video is wholly false, and the people of Imo should ignore it.

“Governor Uzodinma ought to drop out of the race; he has shown time and time again that he is unprepared to run in a free, fair, transparent, and tranquil election.

“As their reported involvement in creating and disseminating the fake video constitutes a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, the Nigerian Criminal Code, and Cyber Crime Law, the PDP calls on INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodimma.”
