The Imo Political Awareness Group (IPAG) has accused the opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), of conspiring to disrupt the upcoming Local Government elections in Imo State.
IPAG, which represents citizens dedicated to upholding democracy and good governance in the state, expressed deep concern over recent developments and the alarming rhetoric coming from certain anti-Imo elements within the opposition parties.
According to Mr. Collins Opurozor, the National convener of IPAG, the opposition lieutenants have been making inflammatory statements on various radio stations, threatening chaos and unrest in response to the government’s plans to expand democratic dividends in Imo through credible Local Government Area (LGA) polls.
IPAG condemns the recurring pattern of sabotage and subversion by these political actors whenever significant progress is made in the state.
It is no secret that these unpatriotic power-seekers have consistently resorted to fueling insecurity as a means to achieve their selfish political goals, disregarding the lives, property, and welfare of the people they claim to care about.

IPAG is genuinely concerned that they may once again employ their only weapon, which is the sponsorship of insecurity, to derail the upcoming LGA elections.
IPAG emphasizes that the announcement by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration to conduct LGA elections should be seen as a positive step towards strengthening grassroots democracy and promoting inclusive governance.
However, it is disheartening to witness the knee-jerk reaction from the opposition, who baselessly allege that this laudable move is merely a pretext for looting public funds.
IPAG firmly asserts that a properly constituted LGA is crucial for effective governance and the delivery of essential services to the people of Imo State.
