PDP Accepts Court Ruling Sacking Pro-Wike Chairman, Appoints New Rivers Executive
The PDP complies with a court judgment removing the pro-Wike factional chairman and others, announcing a newly restructured Rivers State Executive Committee.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its acceptance of a court ruling that nullified the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses held in Rivers State on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024.
Obasanjonews.com reports that a Rivers High Court in Port Harcourt dismissed Chukwuemeka Aaron and other executive members who were elected at the PDP congresses held in August 2024.
Chukwuemeka is an ardent supporter of Nyesom Wike, the former state governor who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released on Thursday by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, it was announced that Nname Robinson Ewor will now lead the Rivers State Executive of the party.
The statement stated: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acknowledges receipt, has considered, and now accepts the judgment from the Rivers State High Court. This ruling in Suit No. PHC/2301/CS/2024 invalidated our party’s Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses held on July 27th, August 10th, and August 31st of 2024 in Rivers State.”
As a result of the Court’s decision issued on Monday, January 13, 2025, the NWC confirms that Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor will lead the Rivers State Executive to manage the activities of the PDP Rivers State Chapter in accordance with its Constitution (amended in 2017).
The NWC praises the court’s decision, which underscores the well-known standing of the PDP as a stronghold of transparency in maintaining internal democracy and strictly following Rule of Law and Party Guidelines during Congresses and other activities.
The NWC urges all leaders, key stakeholders, members, and supporters of our Party in Rivers State and across the nation to collaborate with Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to maintain unity, stability, growth, and ongoing success for the PDP in Rivers State.
The NWC urges the Rivers State Executive, led by Ewor, to put in significant effort towards strengthening Party unity within the state. This would ensure that residents of Rivers State continue reaping substantial democratic benefits under our effective governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, as outlined in the PDP’s manifesto and policy direction.
The NWC praises all PDP members in Rivers State for their dedication and unwavering faith in the Party’s ideals as a genuinely democratic and inclusive organization, driven solely by the collective will, desires, and aspirations of the people.
