Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, has triumphed in Monday’s presidential election with a resounding 99.15% of votes cast; thus ensuring his fourth term as head of state.
The electoral commission of the country has reported that only 79 percent of ballots have been tallied.
According to officials, 9.5 million individuals in Rwanda have been registered for voting out of a total population of 14 million inhabitants.
The provisional results reveal that Frank Habineza from the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda and Philippe Mpayimana, running as an independent candidate, garnered less than 1% votes each among Kagame’s opponents.
