Responding to the presidency’s allegations, Pat Utomi denies organizing anti-government protests and calls for a fact-based discussion.
Pat Utomi, a political economist from Nigeria, has responded to the presidency’s accusation that he was involved in planning the upcoming nationwide protest scheduled for August.
Bayo Onanuga, a top aide to President Bola Tinubu, recently alleged that advocates for Peter Obi’s presidential candidacy under the Labour Party were behind the End Bad Government protest slated from August 1st through 10th. This was reported by OBASANJONEWS24.
Bayo states that certain individuals who use X, such as “FS Yusuf,” an avid supporter of Obi, Professor Pat Utomi – a high-ranking member of the Labour Party, and someone on X with the alias “Peter Obi’s First Son” are responsible for organizing the upcoming protest.
In a post on his official X microblogging handle, Utomi stated that he has no objections to the proposed nationwide demonstration and is reacting positively.
He clarified that he held no objections to protests and considered it a valid democratic tool for citizens to voice their opinions.
Throughout my time, I have taken part in numerous events – ranging from participating during my undergraduate days at UNN to joining concerned professionals as we marched following the annulment of the June 12 election.
“I supported it,” he remarked, stressing that even though he was not familiar with the organizers of the 2020 EndSARS protests.
“If I were involved in the August plans, I would proudly wear it as a badge of honor and not wait for Bayo Onanuga to call me out.”
