Passport Fees Increased by Nigerian Government

The Nigerian government has increased passport fees, affecting all new and renewal applications. Find out the new rates.

An increase in the charges for acquiring a Nigerian passport has been declared by Nigeria’s Federal Government.

On Wednesday, it was announced in a statement by DCI Kenneth Udo – the spokesperson for Nigeria’s Immigration Service (NIS) – that there will be an increase to the current price starting on September 1st of 2024.

As part of the efforts to uphold the Nigerian standard passport’s quality and integrity, he included that this action was taken.

Based on the announcement, the cost of a 32-page passport booklet valid for five years has increased from N35,000 to N50,000.

Starting from September 1, the cost of a 64-page passport booklet with ten years’ validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000.

“He said the fees in Diaspora remain unchanged.”

The NIS conveyed remorse for any inconvenience that the development might create for potential candidates, while also assuring citizens of their steadfast dedication to transparency and delivering high-quality services consistently.
