In response to Olumide Awolumate’s assault on the state’s commissioner for women’s affairs, Olubunmi Osadahun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ondo State branch took swift action on Tuesday.
In response to Awolumate’s attack and assault on the commissioner on the distribution of painkillers in the local government, the party suspended him indefinitely.
The party in Akoko North-West suspended the troubled ward chairman, who was then informed of the suspension by Ade Adetimehin, the state chairman.
The recent altercation between Awolumate and Osadahun, which drew significant notice and criticism, led to the decision to ban Awolumate.
The APC’s state publicity secretary, Alex Kalejaye, stated in a statement that the local government chapter had acted in compliance with the state secretariat’s directive.
He claimed that once the matter had been thoroughly investigated by the party’s state secretariat, Awolumate’s suspension was deemed the best course of action.
The incident, which took place over the weekend, was documented in a popular video that has been widely disseminated on social media.
The video shows the “Cuba” ward chairman and Osadahun engaging in physical violence.
Public outcry over the viral video led to calls for the guilty party official to face speedy disciplinary action.
“Awolumate Olumide is hereby suspended indefinitely from the party in Akoko North West of our great party,” the party leadership in Akoko North West deemed it appropriate to publicly tell the State Secretariat.
Upon receiving the letter of suspension, “Engr. Adetimehin stated that the State Secretariat would immediately establish a formidable disciplinary committee to guarantee that the suspended Awolumate is properly punished and to act as a deterrence to other leaders and members of the party.
