Pakistan: Mastung bomb leaves at least 50 dead and dozens injured

According to officials, an explosion in Pakistan has resulted in at least 50 fatalities and more than 50 injuries.

On Friday, while people were gathered to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, an explosion took place close to a mosque in the Balochistan region of the southwest.

The religious gathering in Mastung city was the target of what the authorities believe to have been a suicide attack.

A state of emergency has been declared by authorities.

According to the authorities, the injured are being taken to two hospitals.

The number of fatalities was confirmed to BBC News by two Mastung city police officers.

The explosion was described as a “very heinous act” by Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

Social media is flooded with videos of first responders and people saving the hurt.

The incident has not yet been assigned a perpetrator.
