Prior to the next local government election in the State, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, chapter in Oyo State has set fresh dates for its primary election.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the local government election has been scheduled for April of 2019 by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
For all candidates for chairmanship and councilorship, the APC on Wednesday announced a minor change to the primary’s schedule.
The primary was required as a result of several interest statements, the party claimed in a statement released on Wednesday.
The primary that had been set for this Thursday will instead take place on Friday, August 25, and Monday, August 28, according to the party’s publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, in a statement made available to OBASANJO NEWS24.
“The party primary schedule will now be divided into two parts, and we have chosen this Friday to conduct the exercise in all the Wards and LGAs in both Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts, while the turn of the 99 Wards and nine local government councils in Oyo South will be on Monday next week.
“Reports submitted by the screening committees established that we have competent aspirants in all of the 351 Wards and 33 LGAs; this indicates that APC remains the most popular party in the State,” he added.
