The All Progressives Congress candidate, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has been proclaimed the winner of the Oluyole Federal Constituency election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
At the conclusion of the supplementary election held in two polling places in the constituency on Saturday evening in Ibadan, Prof. Jacob Olaniyi, the returning officer, declared Akande-Sadipe the victor.
He claims that Akande-Sadipe won with a score of 14,891 to defeat Mr. Abdul-Mojeed Mogbonjubola of the PDP, who came in second with a score of 13,073.
“That Tolulope Akande-Sadipe of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” the returning officer declared.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Akande-Sadipe is currently serving as the House representative for the Oluyole Federal Constituency.
The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) malfunctions and instances of overvoting in the two affected polling units led the electoral body to declare the election held on February 25 as being inconclusive.
Due to this, the commission decided to hold special elections in the two polling places on Saturday.
