An APC chieftain has expressed confidence that Gboyega Oyetola will run and emerge victorious in the 2026 Osun governorship election, citing his popularity and leadership qualities.

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, stated that former governor Adegboyega Oyetola will run for and win the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye stated that Oyetola, who is now serving as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, is more prepared than ever to bring an end to the administration led by the Peoples Democratic Party in 2026.

The former lawmaker expressed confidence, stating that they are fully ready to seize power from the PDP in 2026, and emphasized that the people of the state are eagerly anticipating this change.

Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola plans to contest and succeed in the 2026 governorship election in Osun. He holds the advantage of first refusal and is already laying the groundwork for his campaign.

“He has begun consultations, assessing the party’s strengths and challenges. He is ready and intends to return to Oke Fia Government House in 2026.”

Discussing the reasons Oyetola is considered the top choice for APC in Osun’s upcoming governorship election, Oyintiloye highlighted that during his four-year term, Osun State experienced consistent progress in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure development and rural community enhancement.

He stated, “Even though the federal allocation was limited at that time, Oyetola drew on his extensive experience from both the private and public sectors to effectively utilize available resources so that all sectors experienced positive impacts.”

He praised Oyetola’s achievements in the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy within less than two years, highlighting them as highly commendable due to a significant increase in revenue generation, strategic investments aimed at improving port infrastructure efficiency and accessibility, and the implementation of the national single window initiative designed to streamline trade processing.

“This further demonstrates his capability to excel in any assignment,” he stated.

Oyintiloye urged members of the APC in the state to stay united and back Oyetola in his efforts to secure victory in the upcoming governorship election.
