In any national election, according to Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, he has never engaged in political campaigning.
On a Sunday, he made this statement while discussing faith at the church’s administrative centre in Ogun State.
This comes less than 24 hours after an online site published an audio in which Obi asked Oyedepo for cooperation in order to win over Christians in the South-West.
The 2023 presidential election, according to the former governor of Anambra State, was a religious conflict, hence the votes were crucial.
“Dad, I need you to talk to your people in the South-West and Kwara—the Christians in the South-West and Kwara.
This conflict is between different religions. On the tape, he remarked, “As I keep saying: if this succeeds, you folks won’t regret the support.
In response, Oyedepo asserted that he had never addressed a gathering of people on behalf of a politician.
“Nobody had ever instructed me on how to conduct yourself in public. No. Until I enter paradise, I will not advocate for anybody or run a campaign on their behalf.

Results are evident for those who took it; for those who declined, further steps are being taken (laughs). I’ll continue to tell you that it doesn’t change if you still come, he replied.
Several of Obi’s followers said the recording was doctored, which brought forth criticism for him.
However Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign, insisted that it was taken out of context by critics in a statement he released in the early hours of Sunday.
