Originating in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area, the epidemic has now expanded into the nearby Gashaka Local Government Area which shares a border with Toungo Local Government Area situated in Adamawa State.
On Saturday, Obasanjonews.com Reporters had a conversation with Dr. Aminu Suleiman Mohammed who holds the position of Permanent Secretary at Adamawa State’s Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture.
He declared that the outbreak prompted the ministry to intensify surveillance and activate all Divisional Veterinary Officers (DVOs) for prompt response.
Dr. Mohammed stated that due to the suspected Hemorrhagic Septicaemia outbreak causing the death of more than 1,000 cows in Sardauna Local Government Area, the Adamawa State Government has escalated their monitoring and assessment measures in neighboring local governments bordering Taraba State.

The Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture called upon all DVOs to heighten their efforts and closely monitor the situation in order to prevent the disease from spreading into Adamawa State, he stated.
Despite awaiting test results from the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Laboratory in Vom, Plateau State to confirm the disease outbreak, Taraba State has commenced mass vaccination efforts.
Dr. Mohammed explains that Hemorrhagic Septicaemia is a bacterial illness predominantly impacting cattle, buffaloes, goats and pigs.
Its identifying symptoms include high fever, swelling (notably in the neck), despondency and breathing difficulties .
If an animal contracts this malady it can perish within 24 hours according to Dr. Mohammed’s account of the disease .
