Over 100 businesses are destroyed by fire in Kano market, killing 3 people
Following a Friday morning fire at Badume Market in the state’s Bichi Local Government Area, the Kano State Fire Service has verified the deaths of three people.
Saminu Abdullahi, the service’s public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence in a statement on Saturday.
He said that the flames in the market also damaged no fewer than 100 stores.
The PRO stated, “We promptly dispatched our rescue team to the area at around 03:35 a.m. to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring establishments after receiving an emergency call from the Bichi fire station at around 03:30 a.m. from one Ibrahim Tsalha.
“Three unconscious bodies were removed by our men, and the deaths of the three were subsequently confirmed. The remains were then given to Inspector Mukaila Inusa of the Bichi police division.
The three victims were a male juvenile of approximately 18 years old, a male adult of around 30, and a female of about 35 years old. Their names have not yet been verified.
Abdullahi continued by saying that the service has already started an inquiry into the disaster’s cause.
In order to prevent such occurrences, he recommended the general public to turn off all electrical equipment while not in use and handle fire carefully.
